MET GALA 2018

Colloquially and affectionately referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out,” the Met Gala 2018 is a pinnacle of iconic style. A fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the event welcomes celebrity stars, young creatives, and industry paragons alike. And the excitement doesn’t stop there—the gala also signifies the highly anticipated grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” opening on May 10, 2018.

This year's Met Gala was a religious experience, for both the celebrities and the fashion fans watching from home, and it came with a number of mic drop moments. New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art rolled out the red carpet in celebration of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," and as the costume theme suggests—the influence of Catholicism was extra loud.

Per tradition, celebrities flocked the museum's famous steps for a fashion show-down like no other. While some attendees paid vague tributes with cross motifs and ornate jewelry, others went all-out: Rihanna wore a full-Papal ensemble, Lana del Rey and Jared Leto staged a Gucci-clad Jesus moment, and Sarah Jessica Parker wore a staggering nativity scene on her head.

Now that the best-dressed lists are out and you've had a moment to let all of the looks marinate, we want to know which of the most buzzed-about ensembles was your favorite. Below, cast your definitive vote for the celebrity that brought it—in the best way—to fashion's big night out.

How to Dress Formally Without Feeling Uncomfortable

Many find formal clothes uncomfortable but wearing them for meetings, presentation and formal occasions is a must. But it is not necessary that the formal clothes be uncomfortable.
You can begin by keeping to the style, cuts, colors, and accessories that you are comfortable with. If everything fails keep a pair of garments that you are comfortable in. You need to be mentally and physically comfortable at a formal occasion.
Choose clothes that flatter you. Clarify the event that you have been invited to. You need to wear appropriate clothes – not over dress or under dress which in both cases will make you feel uncomfortable. The word’ formal attire’ is used as a specification for a dress code - -white tie, black tie, or tuxedo for men and women wear trendy gowns with gloves and appropriate accessories. Cocktail requires men dress in dark suits and women in little black dress.

If you are confident about your clothes, the confidence will reflect in you. Cleary think about the wardrobe, colors, and accessories to complete an ensemble.

You should address the problems like short legs wear heel shoes, if you have excess weight on your tummy wear a sports jacket to create a silhouette.   If you are self conscious of a body part try and choose cuts and styles that mask them.
For good looking arms a wear a sleeveless dress, for a trim chest wear a slim fit button shirt, if you have deep brown eyes then enhance them with a color to make them stand out. This will help you feel less uncomfortable and improve your confidence.

Pay attention to details like the dress or attire you will wear get it properly fit before the occasion. So it fits your body leaving you at ease and confident. Groom yourself, be clean shaven and women wear makeup, style your hair, wear shoe that are comfortable and those that will not hurt your feet. If the shoes are new, wear a couple of times to be comfortable and do clean and polish them.

Wear smart jewelry that turns your outfit into a formal ensemble – studs, cuff links, tie-pins, and women can go for necklace, bracelet, and earrings

Fashionistas recommend Minimalism

Minimalism or less is more is the new theme in the fashion world today. Clients obtain clothes in large numbers but end up wearing not even one per cent. The fashion world wants you to spend but to buy only what is practical and fashionable to you.
Many fashionistas recommend minimalism in color, clothes, shoes etc. Less is more it is used for a reason. Being simple and sleek, wearing something the right way makes all the difference to one’s look.

The look which has the biggest impact for example a pair of jeans and a white shirt is all you need to look stunning in summer. If a jacket is added to it is a great combo for winter.
Being minimalist is trendy. Your wardrobe can include neutrals, minimalist jewellery, and silhouettes. Owning fewer clothes help you create a fashion capsule where you can mix and match and create an outfit without being pushed to a place where you do not know what to wear and how to wear it.

Junk pieces that you do not want wear and don’t ever want to wear. So streamline your wardrobe. Your closet should have pieces that you enjoy wearing, and fit and flatter you. Do not limit yourself to just black outfits; do add a little simmer and color because everyone even you enjoy that.

You need to also get creative. Add layers and pair pieces that can never be thought to be together. Using limited amount of clothes will keep you away from distractions and your focus will be completely on key pieces that you can carry off.

Uniform dressing is very popular among busy people you can then focus completely on you and your work rather than being uncomfortable in the clothes you are wearing.

Last but never the least you will be saving a lot of money as you buy something that you only absolutely require and wear it as many times as possible. You will be saving for maybe a holiday abroad.

How to start the latest trend in accessories?

                                Latest trends in accessories

Want to start a trend but you do not know what to wear and how to match the right accessories You need a great outfit with accessories that stand out. But you should know styling.

It is important to keep in mind tips for bags, shoes, accessory pieces that are one of its kind. Develop a personal style and that to on a budget.
Bags and shoes are very important and you should get the most out of them. But it is not necessary that you break your bank to obtain them or to make a statement. You can buy sunglasses in different color lenses and shapes including designer brands  at reasonable prices.

You can make use of costume jewellery and vintage pieces. Sometimes a vintage piece will go well with your outfit and sometimes costume jewellery can make the outfit complete.
Comfort is important as a painful pair of shoes is not good. If and how you can wear a shoe all depends on the shoe and shape of your feet. A low pitch and high vamp will make the shoe comfortable while the reverse will make it uncomfortable.
Splurge on yourself on a special occasion.

Layering the jewelry sometimes gives it a balanced look and feel. You do not have to pay attention to the weight but the size is it wide, thin, and broad. You can also mix silver, gold and other metal colors. As long as you create a balance you will get it right.
Make the piece of jewellery the focal point of your outfit. Never throw out any piece of jewellery. If you like a piece and want to highlight a part of the body wear the piece of jewellery, shoe or bag to highlight the part or hold up the entire outfit.
Match your shoes and bag it is what your grandmother and mother did. If you follow it you will look modern. Most people do not like matching them. You can various dimension to your outfit by adding different elements and colors. Buy you must understand what will work together.
Keep your closet organized according to the seasons. Things you need come in the front and things you do not need go way back. Reorganize the closet just two or three times in a year. Experiment as much as you want but do not be what you are not, Always be yourself.
Cool accessories of 2017 are gaining steam in 2018. Ugly sneakers, berets, micro sunglasses, are the trends dominating and have hit the shelves. Best closet ideas

                                                                Do A closet tour
Make sure you have enough space for everything in your closet. Have removable shelves, with pegs so they can be adjusted. Plan the space in such a way that your dresses, coats, t-shirts, blouses, pant suits etc all come in the closet easily.
If you do not have much space you can hang, stack or keep them in a box them or fold them o that you can check on everything easily and pull out whichever is required to create an outfit.

Design the closet where you mix of hanging rod space for long dresses, boxes or shelves for shoes, drawers for jewellery, blouses on the bottom and jackets above.

Everything is organized by color and style. The trick is to fit in the closet including shoes stored in order of color, heel, type, style, height etc. You can also place the shoes under the dresses.

A denim lover will have a huge collection. You never tire of buying denim in all forms – jeans, jackets, vests, skirts, shirts, jewllery. You can place the denim in jean shades, skirts, those having leather pieces, tees, shirts, sweaters etc.

Sweaters at the top and knits close by. Sweaters are kept folded and are never hung as they will stretch. A new range of t-shirts added that also been recently adding to my general collection. Have drawers which open at a push and slide open.

All pajamas, socks and underwear get stored in the drawer including sunglasses and jewelry. At the top keep your handbags - classic and simple handbags and trendy pieces on the sides.

Transform your closet into a place of joy, declutter and get to follow a few organization hacks, to transform your space. And if you are an impulsive buyer and a person who loves bargains  maintaining an organized closet is an achievement.

Hanging clothes makes it easier to choose clothes that you want to wear. Declutter and storing becomes easily a joy. Many closets have shelves but no drawers so invest plastic drawers to store my t-shirts, undergarments and other small clothing items. Demarcate each box what it contains. Keep only stuff that you will wear.

My casual t-shirts are can be folded and filed vertically. It is usually a worry that
a folded shirt will get wrinkled but filing them vertically makes them easily
accessible and the content is 90% full.

Declutter using the following steps:-

- Things you will don't/and will never wear
- Cannot match it with anything
- Is damaged and unrepairable
- Irritates you when you wear it
- Does not foyou properly
- Do not feel good when wearing it

After the excess of stuff is removed the ideal wardrobe collection is revealed. The
stored stuff can be matched to create and outfit and is easy to wear. It also helps
you buy stuff that will go with your wardrobe and not turn out to be a mistake.
It is easy to spot items.

Handmade fashion

The fashion industry is filled with products that are marked as customized, personalized, having labels that say artisan and craftsmanship to sell the products. A handmade piece of clothing is it really machine made or handmade.
With everything getting automated including computer modeling, 3D printing, laser cutting of the cloth and ultrasonic welding what becomes more valuable handmade or machine made.
Handmade has an exclusivity and individuality attached to it. These items look superior too machine made items. The handmade items are regarded superior and machine made are regarded as inferior. Machine made are regarded as inferior. It was Karl Lagerfeld who automated the fashion industry and argues that ‘this is a sign of progress.’ The value is not in it being handmade but in the thought process
Usually the entire collection presented on the runway is made by machines except for the surface trimmings like embroidery, flowers, feather work, where the hand work is required. The distinction that exists between haute couture fashion and ready-to-wear clothes is that of being handmade and machine made.

Both hand and machine are advocates of solving design problems; enhance design practices and advancing fashion.

The average consumer considers mass production as done by machines which is not possible for a designer. A designer creates one of a kind design and only a few can be produced.
Only a skilled designer has the special skills to exactly know where to place the design on the fabric and is able to manipulate the fabric to get the desired result

Handmade pieces are expensive as they are labor intensive, rare, there are a lot of details which can be seen and add to the entire quality and value of the fabric. This cannot be created digitally and the price will never exceed that of handmade items. There is also a nostalgia element attached to the item and the craftsmanship. People find the handmade pieces having an element of touch and construction which is unique to it. It is an emotional and physical touch which is valued more than the machine made product.

A handmade product creates a sense of relationship with the person who buys it. You have a direct contact with the person who has created it a human connection which far more valuable than the monetary value.

The value of the handmade item is to do with the maker of the item/fabric/product. A human seeks ways to connect with another and the fear of losing connection even if it is the clothes. The social media although is connecting us it is still creating a void making us lose the human connection.

A few materials are better when cut by the machine which includes leather. But hand and machine work together to create haute couture or ready-to-wear.
We need to accept the new standards in fashion from handmade to machine as it is getting very difficult to differentiate between the two products. The technology is relevant to the age we live in.
